From the farm. Of the farm. Wendy Howarth explores the passing of time with her ‘living inks’ and her illustrations creating a multilayered narrative. Wendy researches historical methods to make the inks with such ingredients as oak galls and rusty nails, onion skins and vinegar, all gleaned from the Devon vegetable farm that she is documenting over a period of twelve months. Within the discipline of Reportage Illustration, Wendy’s work is dictated by the seasons, the evolution of her ‘living inks’ and their environmental interaction, creating an ever changing palette that reflects the passage of time.
