Within her project Maggie McAndrews examines Textile Design as a surface to support storytelling. Maggie creates her designs from the everyday, the observed and social history her mum has told her about her life. Collecting these stories, looking at photographs and retelling them through textiles which was one of her mother’s passions. The chairs have become the support structure for the textile designs. Maggie is inspired by her mum’s stories which stimulate feelings of impending loss and change. The work showcases her mum’s travels to Paris in 1949 and is inspired by the magazine she brought back.
