Question: How can new digital design technologies combine with traditional glass making to create a more sustainable craft practice in the production setting?
Laura Quinn is a designer and glass blower who is interested in combining the risks and variabilities associated with the hand-made, and the certainty associated with digital design. Through her research she designs ways in which digital technologies such as 3D printing can increase the sustainability of her practice. Tacit Dimensions showcases the digital interventions that allow the work to be made more efficiently, and enable repair through modular construction. Laura aims to subvert the commonly conceived restraints of her material practice.
