Illustrator Hannah Mumby invites you to lie down on the couch and open up to a plane of dreams and personal myths.
Hannah’s research explores how illustration can engage with psychoanalytic ideas to take up a more subversive position in relation to storytelling and narrativisation. She argues that this can open up possibilities to illustrate feelings and experiences that resist a straightforward narrative structure. Hannah is interested in the material that our unconscious might reveal through our dreams or choice of words. She invites the viewer to follow a chain of association, and move a layer deeper, below the surface.
