CARLY JONES

‘The function of the artist within a disturbed society is to give awareness of the universe, to ask the right questions, and to elevate the mind’ Marina Abramovich. What role can the artist play within a socially engaged practice to raise awareness of mental health and promote wellbeing? Carly Jones is a visual artist and activist whose work is community-based and participatory. Carly’s work is rooted in mental health awareness and includes the projects ‘We’re Not Broke’ and ‘The No Label Lunch’. All projects including ‘Dirty Laundry’ function as spaces to engage conversation and collaboration to allow the possibility of social and political change.
