ILLUSTRATION

AMY OTTLEY

I am a socially and politically conscious illustrator, creating digital artwork inspired by our current climate incorporating vibrant yet limited colour palettes and minimal line work in a considered manner. Creating artwork in response to current issues that inspire me is always intended to further inspire others with my illustration.

For my degree show I have created a vibrant menstrual subscription service that donates to period poverty organisation ‘Bloody Good Period’ in the process. This project saw me creating detailed packaging, branding and infographics to make up the brand RUBY. My aim of my RUBY box was to prevent girls and women being caught out on their period just as I was when Ruby Donaldson saved me in a school bathroom many moons ago. I hope to change the negative relationship women have with their period just as I did with mine due to endometriosis, I want people to 'Be RUBY ready for whatever their period throws at them', and not dread it like it did.
